How do you dance on club music?

It may sound silly, but I'm not sure if there is or if there is not a technique for dancing on music like Justin Timberlake's and such (you know, modern club music - not necessarily rap or house or whatever, just generally). So, is there a special technique or is it simply a matter of rhythm? Thanks.

  1. Just move your body to the rhythm. There is no set style that I am aware of.
  2. Yes, there are techniques, but club dancing is more freestyle by nature. If you're a beginner, do some basic moves such as a step-touch, rocking, or stepping, and change the styling depending on whether you're dancing to hip hop, house, or dance. On the other hand, you could learn hip hop, breaking, and popping, but if you overdo it in a club, you'll look like one of Justin Timberlake's backup dancers. What you want, and what I teach, is taking some hip hop moves, and mixing it with some partnering moves, because after all, club dancing is all about interaction. What you want in the long run is to have a dance style that is flexible - it looks free, but there is some practicing going on behind the scenes to make it look refined. 3. That is a very good question. I hope someone answers this!
